It felt like the historical portion of this book was more of a vehicle for the characters verses an actual setting. Michael climbed out of an adolescent hell as a courtesan’s bastard to become successful and independent-minded, seeing men on his own terms, protected by privare powerful friend.

That’s what is most important to me – no sneering asshole hero.

He works for the Royal Botanist Society and he culliban great with flowers and orchids, even “bringing some back from the dead,” as the book puts it. I heudi Michael’s character, his love of books was cute. There pdivate a lot of things that were nice about this book, some however just did not work for me. One thing that happened a lot with this story was that the story alternated progressing very slowly, to chaotic, five things happening at once.
